DEENA SKET- Independent review by Tianasamour

A tale that seems fictional to the majority of society, yet all too real to others.

This blog follows the story of Deena, an emotionally damaged young lady with promiscuous tendencies, living in the thick of London’s underground gang culture.

Her life is plagued with destruction, sex, violence and betrayal.

I found this story both revealing and disturbing at the same time and soon if I wasn’t on my laptop I was constantly checking my iphone for the next chapter.

Aside from being highly entertaining ……. (once I had become desensitised to what I initially thought to be gratuitous violence), I realised that the story serves not just to entertain or indeed shock but also as an warning to young people in and around this undercover “road” community.

Sentiments in the book provide me with a sense that the author whilst providing highly entertaining cliff-hangers, chapter by chapter also shows us a sense of her moral compass by humanising the characters.

The Deena Sket story takes you all the way through a broad range of emotions, parts make tears fall and others get you furious as plot changes, twists and turns have you unsure how u feel about the main character Deena and supporting roles.

"That’s a double negative you dumb sket, get on your knees,"

But like any good fiction writer, the author has subtly added light-hearted moments even within dark situations.

The above quote is a good example of that, being given grammatical criticisms by a Gangster is not something most people would expect.

This story captured not only my interest but also family, friends and colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds.

My anticipation at times has equalled that ofeastenders “who done it?” and I eagerly await the next instalment of DeenaSket.

  6. all the characters suffer from personality disorders and most women who grew up in single parent homes and didnt receive any support from the single parent they are living with, they are bound to end up this way. Theres truth to this story and someone of us can relate to a situation that we have read or their lifestyle.
